Maxine had recommended using CIBT Visas to facilitate the process. I went on their site and placed an order for their services. I prematurely, selected a 3-year tourist visa option, not realizing just what that required. In contrast to a regular tourist visa, I would have needed to include proof of medical insurance coverage in Russia (which I do not have) and bank records. I should have just selected the "tourist" visa package. I will need to call them on Monday, if they are open, and change my order.
One requirement is to fill out the on-line Russia Visa Application form. I successfully did that. Before I print it out and send it, along with my passport to the CIBT office (Houston), I need to also ask them whether I should select "single", "double" or "multi" entries. I have shown the dates that we will be in St. Petersburg (July 23, 24, 25) and selected "multi" entries, believing we may wish to disembark several times while in port. I also need to talk with them about how we ensure I can get my passport back in time for my April trip (I put on the CIBT order that I needed the visa delivered by April 5) and that the visa will be valid for the time we are in Russia (this is a question Maxine asked that I should ensure).
The process is then to print out the application and, using a supplied FedEx address label, send the following to the CIBT office in Houston:
- Passport
- Upload Your Photos at https://cibtvisas.com/photo-service or provide photographs. I am sending a self photo, which they say they will adjust accordingly
- Russian Tourist Visa Support Letter (I have filled out the form, CIBT will generate the actual letter)
- Russian Visa Application Form
- Russian Visa Application ID page, along with my hand-written password
- CIBTvisas Order Form
- Embassy Registration (Highly Recommended)
